What to Expect in Emotionally Focused
Couples Therapy
Our couples therapy sessions will explore the underlying emotions and attachment needs driving your interactions. You will be guided through recognizing and expressing these emotions in a way that enhances your connection and understanding. The Process
During our consultation call, we will determine if we are a good fit to work together. If so, we will schedule the following appointments. We ask that you complete the first four sessions within four to six weeks of beginning therapy.

You will meet with your therapist for a 90-minute session to discuss why you are seeking couples therapy now. We will focus on exploring your relationship, identifying stuck points, and gathering any important information.

Both you and your partner will have your own 50-minute individual session. These sessions will explore your perceptions of the relationship and your attachment histories.

In the fourth appointment, your therapist will share insights from the attachment history sessions, and together, you will create goals for your work ahead. These goals are important for keeping everyone focused and accountable.

You will then continue with 90-minute sessions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, working towards your established goals. For couples who have made significant progress, we also offer 50-minute sessions.
